I wanted to do something special for my son’s 15th birthday. Neither of us have ever shot a gun of any kind, so I thought we’d learn sporting clays together. We had a blast! Jon made the whole experience very enjoyable with instructions that were easy to understand. Both of us were breaking clays consistently in short order. My son had the time of his life and hopes to shoot sporting clays in the very near future. I highly recommend Jon as an instructor.

We had a fantastic time at Fowler Farms with Jon as our guide. We had big group of 13 people - most were brand new to the sport. Jon provided a thorough safety lesson and good beginner lessons so that all were able to break some clays and have a fantastic time! Highly recommend if you are looking to take a big, beginner group out for sporting clays in the Asheville area.

WARNING! Sporting Clays is an addictive sport. A good instructor will enable the”fix” and the better you get, the more you want to shoot. I’ve been shooting Clays - on an irregular basis - for six years, and with Jon Parrish for the last three. Of the ten or so instructors I’ve shot with (either clinics or regular lessons) Jon’s one of my favorites. His quiet, gentle style encourages me to improve; he’ll remind me of something and then leave me alone to work it out. He’ll let me focus on one thing at a time and not overwhelm me with too many instructions. I “hear” his voice making corrections even when he’s not in the stand, and he’s so invested in his students that we all try very hard to not disappoint him! Jon has taken students from first shot to upper-level tournament shooting in less than a year’s time, but he’s also got the rare ability to keep quiet and let me have fun flinging lead around without nagging. If you want to shoot at the top of the sport, or go out and have a good time learning, Jon can take you in either direction. As a well-past-middle-age woman I’m probably not headed for the Big Tournament Life but Jon has always made me feel very comfortable out on any course we shoot. And who knows - he’s been coaching me on the mental aspects of the game lately and maybe there’s a tournament in my future. Thanks, Jon!

I’ve had some instruction in sporting clays, sometimes by myself, and sometimes in groups. The session that my friends and I had with you on 3/8 was probably the best to date. I noticed my shot, improving throughout the day with the tweaks and advice that you gave. As for my friends, none of them had ever shot a gun before. Some were a little anxious about it on the way over, but they all had a great time and were much more comfortable as the day went on. So thank you for the instruction, and the memorable outing. Everyone did really well, and we’re really looking forward to setting up another session in the summer.

I’ve been working with Jon for over a year now. I’ve shot sporting clays for several years but my scores plateaued long ago. I was shooting in the low 70’s when we started. On a good day I can now shoot in the mid-90’s. I started competing in tournaments last year and have gone from D Class to A Class in that time with Jon’s help. I am hoping to join Jon in Master Class in another year or so! I highly recommend Jon’s service to anyone.

I am a lifelong sportsman who took up Sporting Clays in my late 30s. Being an athlete, I was able to get into the mid 60s and enjoy the game but was stuck there for a few years without instruction. Being unhappy with that average and not being very competitive, I enlisted coach Jon Parrish's help I started to understand and learn from my mistakes and progressed steadily with Jon’s regimented practice routine. He's patient, supportive, and knowledgeable enough to help shooters like me with years of poor habits break out from 60's to consistently the 80s and now occasionally 90's! Great shooter, great guy, great coach... you won't be disappointed,
